Install and verify
Download a release and prepare the local tools.
Download and verify
Get an installer or portable artifact from the official releases. Choose your OS and architecture, not a source-code archive.
Compare its hash with the matching filename in the release's SHA256SUMS.txt:
Get-FileHash '.\MediaFilez Desktop.exe' -Algorithm SHA256
Get-Content .\SHA256SUMS.txtThe repository also provides scripts/verify-release.ps1. A checksum verifies file identity against the manifest; Windows publisher signing and SmartScreen reputation are separate.
Prepare tools and download
The app can install managed extraction tools and FFmpeg from publisher release sources after checksum verification. It marks system tools found on PATH separately from managed copies.
- Choose an output folder.
- Paste a public URL you are permitted to download.
- Select video, image/gallery, or audio.
- Start the job and follow its progress.
Tool requirements depend on the source and output mode. Inspect an error before retrying an unavailable link.
Updates
The app checks a signed GitHub updater feed and lets you choose whether to install an offered update. Tauri verifies the update signature before installation. Installer checksums and updater signatures are different checks.
Use the notes for the release you install. These pages do not describe unmerged development changes as shipped features.
