Use the Discord bot

Download media in the same conversation.

Invite the bot

Use the Invite button in the navigation. Choose a server where you can add apps, then review the permissions Discord requests.

Run the command

In a channel where the bot is available, type /media. Discord displays the current command options; add your public media link and submit it.

Text
/media url:https://example.com/video.mp4 output:Auto private:true

Follow the reply

The bot updates its reply while it works. It sends attachments when they fit the configured upload target. Large albums are split by attachment count and byte size. Mixed photos and videos may not retain the source's original slide order.

Private replies are optional. The Nerd Info action provides download and processing details when offered. Later delivery failures should not resend confirmed attachments.

The bot has its own execution path. You do not need an API key for /media. To build your own bot with the hosted API, use the Node.js guide.

Permissions

Make sure the bot can access the channel and send messages and attachments. Server and channel permission overrides can affect access.
